Last updated: October 27, 2026
Ars Sancta is an independent digital project based in Brazil, dedicated to preserving, showcasing, and celebrating sacred art and the Christian artistic heritage.
This Privacy Policy explains how Ars Sancta (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information when you visit our website or use our Android application.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal data responsibly, in accordance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD — Law No. 13,709/2018) and other applicable data protection regulations, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable.
Our approach is simple: we collect and process only the information necessary to operate and protect our services. Ars Sancta does not require user accounts, display advertisements, use advertising trackers, or sell personal information.
This Privacy Policy applies to our website and Android application, including their English, Portuguese, and Spanish versions.
1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data
Ars Sancta is an independent project operated from Brazil and is responsible for the personal data processing activities described in this Privacy Policy.
For privacy-related questions, requests, or concerns, you can contact us at:
2. Information We Process and Why
2.1. Technical Information and Security
When you visit our website or use our Android application, certain technical information may be automatically processed to deliver content, maintain functionality, and protect our services.
This information may include:
- IP address;
- Browser type and version;
- Device and operating system information;
- Requested pages and resources;
- Date and time of access;
- Technical connection information.
Some of this information is processed by service providers, including Cloudflare, which helps us deliver content and maintain the security and availability of our services.
We do not use this information to personally identify visitors, track their browsing behavior across websites, or create individual user profiles.
Service providers may retain technical records according to their applicable policies and retention practices.
2.2. Protection Against Excessive Downloads
To protect our digital collection and ensure fair access for all visitors, Ars Sancta may apply restrictions to excessive or automated downloads.
For this purpose, limited technical information may be processed temporarily to detect and prevent abusive activity.
Information used for these protections is retained only for as long as necessary to enforce the applicable safeguards and is not used for advertising, behavioral tracking, or user profiling.
2.3. Artwork Statistics
Ars Sancta may maintain aggregated statistics about artwork views and downloads.
These statistics are associated with individual artworks rather than user identities. Their purpose is to display general information about the popularity and engagement of the collection.
We do not use these statistics to build individual browsing profiles or identify specific visitors.
2.4. Locally Stored Preferences
Our website and Android application may store certain information locally to improve your experience.
Depending on the platform, this may include:
- Language preferences;
- Artistic nudity display preferences;
- Favorite artworks;
- Recently viewed artworks;
- Notification preferences.
On the website, these settings may be stored using browser storage technologies, such as localStorage.
In the Android application, preferences and personal collections are stored locally on your device.
We do not maintain centralized user profiles or synchronize these preferences with personal accounts.
You can remove locally stored information by clearing your browser’s site data or the application’s stored data. Depending on your device settings, certain locally stored information may also be included in backups managed by your operating system provider.
2.5. Approximate Country Detection
To display appropriate currencies and financial support options, Ars Sancta may determine your approximate country based on your IP address.
This information is used solely to adapt the available payment options, such as displaying PIX for visitors in Brazil.
Country detection may involve a third-party service provider that processes the IP address for this purpose.
We do not request access to your device’s precise location or maintain a history of your geographical movements.
2.6. Financial Support and Payments
Ars Sancta may offer optional ways for visitors to financially support the preservation and development of the project.
Website payments
Financial contributions made through our website are handled by external payment platforms and financial institutions, including:
- PayPal;
- Ko-fi;
- Banco Inter, including PIX where available.
When you choose to make a contribution, the selected payment provider may collect and process the information necessary to complete the transaction.
Ars Sancta does not directly collect or store complete payment card numbers, banking passwords, or other sensitive payment credentials.
Depending on the payment service, we may receive limited transaction information, such as the contribution amount, date, payment status, and information provided by the contributor.
Such information is used only to administer contributions, provide assistance when necessary, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Android application payments
All financial contributions and purchases of products offered within the Ars Sancta Android application are processed through Google Play’s billing system, in accordance with the applicable Google Play policies.
Payment information is handled by Google under its own privacy and payment terms.
We do not have access to your complete payment credentials. We may receive limited purchase information, such as transaction identifiers, purchase status, and product details, when necessary to verify transactions or provide support.
2.7. Embedded YouTube Videos
Some editorial pages may include videos hosted on YouTube, a service provided by Google.
When a YouTube video is loaded, your browser may establish a connection with Google’s servers, allowing YouTube to process technical information, including your IP address.
YouTube may also use cookies or similar technologies depending on the content, your browser settings, and the applicable privacy controls.
Any personal information processed directly by YouTube is subject to Google’s own Privacy Policy.
2.8. Fonts and Typography
Our website may use fonts provided by Google Fonts.
When fonts are requested directly from Google’s servers, certain technical information, including your IP address, may be transmitted to Google.
Google states that Google Fonts requests are not used to create advertising profiles or for personalized advertising.
2.9. Email Communications
If you contact us by email, we may process your email address, the content of your message, and any additional information you voluntarily provide.
This information is used to respond to your inquiry, provide assistance, or address requests related to Ars Sancta.
Email communications may be processed by our email service providers.
We do not use these communications for targeted advertising or automatically subscribe correspondents to marketing lists.
2.10. Android Application
The Ars Sancta Android application is designed to provide access to our sacred art collection without requiring personal accounts or collecting unnecessary personal information.
The application:
- Does not require registration or login;
- Does not display advertisements;
- Does not use advertising trackers or behavioral analytics tools;
- Stores favorites, viewing history, and preferences locally;
- Manages scheduled notifications locally through Android’s system features;
- Does not synchronize personal collections with external user accounts.
When the application retrieves artwork images or other online content, the technical connection information described in Section 2.1 may be processed.
Optional purchases and financial contributions within the application are handled through Google Play, as described in Section 2.6.
Google may independently process certain information related to application installation, distribution, purchases, and platform services under its own Privacy Policy.
3. What We Do Not Do
Ars Sancta is strictly committed to respecting user privacy and the sanctity of personal contemplation. We do not:
- Require or offer personal user accounts;
- Sell or rent personal information;
- Display third-party advertisements;
- Use advertising identifiers for targeted marketing;
- Deploy behavioral tracking or profiling tools;
- Build personal profiles based on viewed artworks;
- Share personal information with data brokers;
- Use personal data for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.
Limited information may be shared with trusted service providers when necessary to operate our services, process payments, or fulfill legal obligations. Such processing does not constitute the sale of personal data.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Ars Sancta does not use cookies for advertising or behavioral analytics.
Certain essential cookies may be set by service providers, such as Cloudflare, to support security features and protect against malicious or automated traffic.
Third-party services, including YouTube and payment providers, may use their own cookies or similar technologies when their content or services are accessed.
Where required by applicable law, consent will be obtained before activating non-essential cookies or similar technologies.
Local browser storage used for preferences is separate from cookies and can be cleared through your browser settings.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by applicable law.
Retention practices depend on the type of information:
- Technical and security data: Retained according to the applicable security requirements and service providers’ retention policies.
- Temporary abuse-prevention information: Retained only for the limited period necessary to enforce security measures.
- Locally stored preferences: Remain on the user’s device until removed by the user, application, browser, or operating system.
- Email communications: Retained for the period necessary to address the inquiry and any legitimate follow-up requirements.
- Payment-related information: Retained as necessary to administer transactions, provide support, and comply with applicable financial or legal obligations.
- Aggregated artwork statistics: May be retained to provide historical information about the collection, without maintaining identifiable user profiles.
When personal information is no longer necessary, we delete or anonymize it as appropriate, subject to applicable legal requirements. External service providers may apply their own retention periods according to their respective policies.
6. International Data Processing
Ars Sancta operates from Brazil and serves an international audience.
Some of the external services we use, including Cloudflare, Google, and payment providers, may process personal information in countries other than Brazil, including the United States.
These providers maintain their own privacy and security practices.
Where international transfers of personal data are subject to applicable data protection laws, the relevant legal requirements and transfer safeguards must be observed, including appropriate contractual protections or other legally recognized mechanisms where required.
For additional information about international data processing related to Ars Sancta, please contact us using the email address provided in this Policy.

Under Brazil’s LGPD and, where applicable, the GDPR or other relevant data protection laws, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether your personal data is being processed;

- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Request deletion, anonymization, or restriction of personal data, where legally applicable;
- Obtain information about the sharing of your personal data;
- Request data portability, where applicable;
- Object to certain processing activities under applicable law;
- Withdraw consent when consent is the legal basis for processing.
To exercise your rights or submit a privacy-related request, please contact: [email protected]
Because Ars Sancta does not maintain user accounts or individual browsing profiles, some technical information may not be directly attributable to a specific individual by us. This does not limit any rights granted to you under applicable data protection laws.
You may also lodge a complaint with Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) or another competent data protection authority, where applicable.
8. Children's Privacy
Ars Sancta is a cultural and educational project intended to make sacred art accessible to a broad audience.
We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children for registration, advertising, or profiling purposes.
However, basic technical information necessary for the operation and security of our services may be processed regardless of a visitor’s age, as described in this Policy.
Certain historical artworks may contain artistic nudity in religious, cultural, or historical contexts. As a precaution, artworks containing artistic nudity are blurred by default and require an intentional user action to be displayed without the filter.
We seek to handle any personal information relating to children and adolescents in accordance with applicable law and their best interests.
9. Information Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information processed through our services.
These measures include data minimization, access restrictions, secure communications, and protections against unauthorized access and abusive activity.
We also seek to limit the collection, use, and retention of personal information to what is necessary for the legitimate operation of Ars Sancta.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our website, Android application, services, or applicable legal requirements.
The date of the most recent revision will always appear at the beginning of this document. Significant changes will be communicated through our website or other appropriate channels.
We encourage visitors to review this Policy occasionally to stay informed about our privacy practices.
